What is the best format for downloading music?
M4A gives you the original audio stream from YouTube without re-encoding — zero quality loss. MP3 is more universally compatible but involves one conversion step. For most listeners, 192 kbps MP3 or M4A 128 kbps sounds great.
Can I download music from YouTube Music?
If the song has a regular YouTube video URL (youtube.com/watch?v=...), yes. YouTube Music exclusive content that does not have a public video page is not supported.
Can I download an entire playlist?
Not in a single click yet. Paste each video URL one at a time. Batch playlist support is planned for a future update.
Will the downloaded file have album art?
We write a minimal ID3 tag with the video title as the track name. Album art, artist, and album metadata are not available from YouTube, so you can add them manually with a tag editor.
Is it legal to download music from YouTube?
Downloading music you own or have permission to use is legal. Downloading copyrighted music for redistribution is not. Many artists upload official audio to YouTube — check the video description for licensing information.
What is the difference between MP3 and M4A?
MP3 is the most widely supported audio format — works everywhere. M4A (AAC) is the format YouTube actually stores audio in, so downloading as M4A skips the conversion step entirely. M4A files are slightly smaller at the same quality level.
